Jeff Paul: Vegas Golden Knights Overcome Demko, Win Game Seven
The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Vancouver Canucks by a score of 3-0 on Friday evening, in Game Seven of their Western Conference Semifinal Round. They advance to the Conference Final against the Dallas Stars.
It's really funny to see the same thing happen to Vegas that happened in Pittsburgh. The obsession from both the fans and most major media with MAF is jaw-dropping.
You will see constant criticism of Matt Murray--and have since 2016--despite Murray winning 2 Cups. There are STILL fans in Pittsburgh royally upset that The Penguins moved on from Fleury because Murray had played so well in the post season in 2016, 2017. So 2 Stanley Cup wasnt enough to satisfy the rabid Fleury loving fans in Pittsburgh, and apparently 3 shutouts in one playoff series isnt enough in Vegas either....
Inevitably, Murray eventually succumbed to that pressure and didnt play as well in 2019, 2020. To this day, people criticize every goal he allows. Now likely to be traded, the same fans still excoriate Murray even to the point of lowering his trade value. The media in Pittsburgh is no different.
I believe Murray will strongly rebound wherever he ends up. And I think Lehner will be fine.
